Storyline
An extremely wealthy man, dying from cancer, undergoes a radical medical
procedure that transfers his consciousness into the body of a healthy
young man. But all is not as it seems when he starts to uncover the
mystery of the body's origin and the organization that will kill to
protect its cause. It looks like we don't have any Synopsis for this title yet.
Did You Know?
First film directed by Tarsem Singh not to feature costume design by the late Eiko Ishioka. Actually, this sounds a lot like the plot to Freejack from 1992,
starring Anthony Hopkins as a future billionaire who grabs Emilio
Estevez from the past so he can transfer into his body.
User Reviews
Stories like this pop up all the time (some sort of body part, or the
whole body, is transferred from one person to another and supernatural
occurrences begin, usually dealing with memories of the former person
terrorizing the new owner), be it the aforementioned Body Parts (which
is a stretch, in my opinion; not quite the "same concept"), The Eye...
Honestly,
to me, this sounds most like an old 1955 Tales From the Crypt story
"The Switch" (made for the TV series with William Hickey as an old
billionaire that switches bodies with a younger man to get a girl to
love him). And, even before that, this type of science-gone-wrong story
can be traced back to Mary Shelley's Frankenstein.
Anyway, it
doesn't matter, because the originality of any story comes in how it
plays out, and in what context. The 'basic plots' of most stories ever
told are similar to a bunch of others. If this keeps the focus on the
dark side of immortality in modern science (which is what I gather from
the plot descriptions), and doesn't go into "trying to woo a younger
girl" or "the body starts killing people against his will," then it'll
be a fresh take on the story, and therefore won't be a re-tread.
Besides
all of that, the reason I came to this page in the first place is
because I'm curious to see what director Tarsem will do, since I'm such a
fan of his earlier work (The Cell, The Fall) and I'm sure this will be
worth seeing for the visuals alone.
