Storyline

The year is 1866 and the bloodiest conflict in American history - the Civil War - has recently come to an end. Miles away in the isolated countryside of Texas, two families neighbor one another. The Rileys trap animals and sell their pelts for a meager living, while the McCluskeys, having lost their proud cattle business to the war, steal from the weaker Rileys' traps. That is, until WADE, favorite uncle to the Riley children and an embattled war veteran, visits his family to find reprieve from the horrors he has seen. Wade learns of the McCluskeys' misdoings and takes it upon himself to put a stop to them and before long, finds himself with another war on his hands - this time, one of his own making.

Directed by Kane Senes and co-written by Senes and John Chriss, the pic is set in post-Civil War Texas where two neighboring farm families are grieving their losses while they struggle to survive. When Wade Riley (Dale) returns from fighting for the Confederacy, he discovers that Randolph McCluskey (William Forsythe) and family have been stealing animals from the Reillys’ traps. He decides to take matters into his own hands, sparking another tragic and senseless war. Ethan Embry, Maika Monroe and Rhys Wakefield co-star.

American Film Production’s George Voskericyan executive produced and Senes, Chriss of Country Club, Dave Szamet, Provenance Pictures’ Steven J. Berger, Kyle Fischer and AFP’s J.M.R. Luna produced. The deal was negotiated by ARC head of acquisitions Scott Moesta and Highland Film Group brokered on behalf of the filmmakers. Highland reps international sales.

Recent ARC releases include the Jason Isaacs pic Field Of Lost Shoes, and it recently picked up the Sarah Hyland movie See You In Valhalla for an April 24 bow.

ARC Entertainment has acquired U.S. rights to the civil war drama "Echoes of War."

Directed and co-written by Kane Senes, the Texas-set film follows recently widowed Wade Riley (James Badge Dale) returning home from fighting for the Confederacy only to find another conflict waiting for him.

ARC Entertainment will release the western thriller in theaters and on demand May 15. 

KALISZ, Poland — For evidence of how much President Vladimir V. Putinof Russia has jangled nerves and provoked anxiety across Eastern Europe, look no farther than the drill held the other day by the Shooters Association.

The paramilitary group, like more than 100 others in Poland, has experienced a sharp spike in membership since Mr. Putin’s forces began meddling in neighboring Ukraine last year.

Thirty students took an oath to defend Polanden. Boguslaw Pacek, an adviser to the Polish defense minister and the government’s chief liaison with these paramilitary groups, marched with them. He has been making the rounds in recent months of such gatherings: student chapters like this one, as well as groups of veterans, even battle re-enactors. at all costs, joining nearly 200 other regional members of the association — young men and women, boys and girls — marching in formation around the perimeter of the dusty high school courtyard here. They crossed Polish Army Boulevard and marched into the center of town, sprawling in four long lines along the edge of St. Joseph’s Square.
